Fernando Ponzetta was born 1960 in Ugento (Lecce) southern Italy. He spent his childhood in Switzerland. In 1983, he re-located to Germany (Stuttgart) and has lived in Berlin-Neukölln since 1987.
As a conservator of historic sports cars, he started taking photographs in 1990 to document details of the automobiles he restored.
He has, as an individual with a talent for craftsmanship, strived to improve, as opposed to merely accepting, objects he is confronted with. He has re-invented all manner of implements for his own, special purposes.
In 1995, Fernando Ponzetta became involved in the construction and use of pinhole cameras, a simple and one of the most “primitive” forms of cameras. The variety of his camera production ranges from panorama-cameras to pocket cameras to large-scale cameras made of wood.
