Project

Future Cities – Living Cities

The European Network for Mobility and Local Agenda 21 (Berlin), the Gallery Zero (Berlin) and the “Samuel von Brukenthal”-Foundation (Sibiu/Hermannstadt) will prepare and present an exhibition about sustainability in European Cities at the Culture Capital of Europe in Sibiu 2007 with the title „Future Cities – Living Cities“.

The aims of the presentation are not only to show an exhibition, but also to demonstrate a work in progress. The project is about developing ideas and exchanging experiences between partners from different European cities.

As a starting point we will organize two workshops for artists, planners, architects, Local Agenda 21 activists etc. The first in Sibiu (8-9 of February 2007) and the second in Berlin (9-10 of March 2007). At the meetings we will discuss the idea of „Future Cities – Living Cities“, then explore possiblities of the project as well as possiblities for further cooperation and development.

The presentation will take place in Sibiu in 1-15 of Oktober 2007. Afterwards we would like to integrate the results of the discussions between artists, participants and visitors. And we are interested in a longterm exchange on a European level about „Future Cities – Living Cities“. Furthermore we will prepare a combined application to participate in the Culture Capital of Europe event in Essen (Germany) and Pecs (Hungary) in 2010.

If you are interested in „Future Cities – Living Cities“ and if you would like to participate as a City; NGO, artist, planner, designer, Local Agenda 21 expert, or as workshop participant please don’t hesitate to contact the coordinators of the project.
